Call for Nominations ANZSBT Council

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Nominations are open to all eligible members* (see below) to join ANZSBT Council with the view to assume the office bearer position of TREASURER from the 2025 Annual General Meeting.

Applications received from nurses and scientists working in Qld, NSW, SA and Tasmania will be prioritized, but all eligible members are encouraged to apply.

No financial knowledge is necessary however a basic understanding of banking and financial statements would be advantageous.

* As per the ANZSBT Constitution,
1. Proposers and Seconders must be full and financial Ordinary members of the ANZSBT
2. Honorary Life Members are eligible to be nominated as Councillors of the Society

Blood 2025 and the 36th Regional Congress of the ISBT

As part of the Organising Committee, ANZSBT is looking forward to welcoming you to Perth, Western Australia, for the joint meeting of Blood 2025 and the 36th Regional Congress of the ISBT on 26 – 29 October 2025.

We encourage you to put the dates in your diary now and start planning your participation and attendance. We are very much looking forward to gathering together in person, and planning is already underway for an excellent educational program, including leading international experts joining us in Perth.

Call for Abstracts

Abstract submission is now open until Thursday, 1 May 2025.

We encourage you to make your own contribution to the educational content of the Meeting by submitting your research, case study, or similar as an abstract.

The guidelines and submission categories are available on the website, noting a separate submission template is required for Blood Transfusion topics, as the ANZSBT and ISBT committees are uniting to develop a program on the forefront of transfusion science and medicine.

ISBT Milan 2025 – 35th Regional Congress May 31-June 4 2025

ISBT Milan 2025: A must-attend event for Transfusion Professionals across the
globe

The International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) invites you to the 35th Regional Congress of the ISBT, which will be held in Milan, Italy, from May 31 to June 4, 2025 in collaboration with the Italian Society for Transfusion Medicine and Immunohaemtology (SIMTI).

Registration opens on the December 2, 2024.

“You are invited to the 35th Regional meeting of the ISBT in Milan”, said Jason Acker, ISBT Scientific Secretary, “This event will provide an enriching environment to exchange the latest knowledge and experience that is advancing transfusion medicine and improving donor and patient care.” As we move towards a virtual and electronic future, ISBT is dedicated to providing a platform for meaningful, face-to-face interaction, lively discussions and the opportunity to network with peers from across the globe.

 Key Responsibilities

The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) seeks the expertise of a clinical and laboratory haematologist for developing their expeditionary health effects. The position aims for the specialist to provide input to current in-service haematology practices (primarily transfusion) and future advances in blood and blood products; in support of patient haemostasis.

The candidate will also be actively fostering and strengthening relationships with key legal stakeholders.

 Clinical and laboratory haematologist (preferably 5 years)
