Nominations are open to all eligible members* (see below) to join ANZSBT Council with the view to assume the office bearer position of TREASURER from the 2025 Annual General Meeting.
Applications received from nurses and scientists working in Qld, NSW, SA and Tasmania will be prioritized, but all eligible members are encouraged to apply.
No financial knowledge is necessary however a basic understanding of banking and financial statements would be advantageous.
* As per the ANZSBT Constitution,
1. Proposers and Seconders must be full and financial Ordinary members of the ANZSBT
2. Honorary Life Members are eligible to be nominated as Councillors of the Society

Blood 2025 and the 36th Regional Congress of the ISBT

Abstract submission is now open until Thursday, 1 May 2025.
We encourage you to make your own contribution to the educational content of the Meeting by submitting your research, case study, or similar as an abstract.
The guidelines and submission categories are available on the website, noting a separate submission template is required for Blood Transfusion topics, as the ANZSBT and ISBT committees are uniting to develop a program on the forefront of transfusion science and medicine.

ISBT Milan 2025: A must-attend event for Transfusion Professionals across the

The International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) invites you to the 35th Regional Congress of the ISBT, which will be held in Milan, Italy, from May 31 to June 4, 2025 in collaboration with the Italian Society for Transfusion Medicine and Immunohaemtology (SIMTI).
Registration opens on the December 2, 2024.

About ISBT:
ISBT is an international society with members from over 100 countries. Anyone involved in any aspect of transfusion medicine and related disciplines can become a member whether working in blood services, hospitals, research institutes, universities, or industry. All professional groups within the field of transfusion medicine are represented.
The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) seeks the expertise of a clinical and laboratory haematologist for developing their expeditionary health effects. The position aims for the specialist to provide input to current in-service haematology practices (primarily transfusion) and future advances in blood and blood products; in support of patient haemostasis.
The candidate will also be actively fostering and strengthening relationships with key legal stakeholders.
Essential Criteria.
Clinical and laboratory haematologist (preferably 5 years)
RACP and AHPRA registered
Knowledge and experience in transfusion medicine, including donor selection, blood product collection and preparation, product supply storage and distribution, pre-transfusion testing and transfusion safety
Advanced knowledge and experience in coagulation, with keen interest in damage control resuscitation
Desire to work with Air Force Scientific Officers – provide mentorship, technical reach back and overarching technical authority in provision of all haematological services, specifically transfusion
Ability to work collaboratively with personnel across all clinical and non-clinical health roles and provide specialist technical reach back support (specialist reserves and permanent)
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
Able to reliably provide a minimum of 20 days per annum.
Desirable.
The following will also be considered when identifying suitable individuals:
Hospital transfusion committee experience; including development and implementation of transfusion practice guidelines, clinical risk management, identification and management of transfusion reactions, haemovigilance and quality assurance
Experience in setting up new test methodologies and responsibility for quality governance
Haematology clinical research experience, ideally in blood products
Experience in medical administration (e.g. Department lead)
Established clinical leadership skills
