Immunoglobulin Governance Program Updates – April update
The Symposium will focus on rural and remote health research that informs strategic health policy, and health service challenges in rural and remote Australia into the future.
The International Haemovigilance Network will be holding their 2021 virtual conference. The program will be presented with new insights in haemovigilance.
The meeting will be held online on the 18th March 2021 14:00 – 16:30 CET.
Applications for the 2021 Bridge program are now open.
Fully funded by industry and government, and delivered by QUT (Queensland University of Technology), the program equips researchers and entrepreneurs with the knowledge, skills and networks to successfully commercialise new pharmaceuticals.

In addition, the RCPA Kanematsu Foundation Award is also open for applications. Its purpose is to support early-career investigators in research into thrombosis and haemostasis. Information on the RCPA Kanematsu Foundation Award can be found here

CPD in 2020 and 2021 – Important information for physicians
Due to the impact of COVID-19 the RACP CPD team can confirm that it is not mandatory to record your CPD activities in MyCPD for 2020, although it is encouraged where possible. Your 2020 MyCPD record will remain open until 31 March 2021 if you wish to record your activities.

The MBA and The MCNZ have decided that medical practitioners will need to resume meeting CPD requirements from 2021.
The ANZSBT Transfusion Science Standing Committee has recently released a guidance document on transporting blood and blood products to a patient’s bedside.
This document has been released to provide guidance to institutions on the transportation of blood to a bedside. Institutions should have procedures and equipment available to ensure that blood and blood products are transported appropriately to a patient’s bedside from the transfusion laboratory or other controlled storage in order to maintain the integrity of the product, and minimise wastage.

2021 ANZSBT Research Grant now open for applications
The 2021 ANZSBT Research Grant is now open for applications with a closing date of Sunday 28th March 2021.
The Grant is open to members as well as non-members.
The Grant’s purpose is to contribute towards research in transfusion medicine and science in Australasia and to promote and develop research in related medical knowledge and science.
